Stories on Geographies - European Participatory Geoblog of Memory

An educational project connected with memory, in cooperation with both national and international institutions, is also being conducted by CHS JU. The project “Stories on Geographies - European Participatory Geoblog of Memory” (www.storiesongeographies.eu) was initiated by the Acmos association in Turin to promote active citizenship and social engagement amongst young people. One of its main aims is its encouragement of young people – via new technology – to become more interested in the past of their towns, cities or regions.

A Geoblog is a virtual map of European places of memory connected with WWII which may serve as an international platform for dialogue and remembrance. Museums, organizations and individuals can add a description of a site, adding pictures and personal recollections, on the map. The project enjoys the support of the European Commission and has partners in Italy, France, Belgium, Portugal and Poland. CHS JU is one of the Polish partners engaged in encouraging Polish schoolchildren and students to take part in creating a virtual description of the places of remembrance in our country.
